There was a time when the modular home industry was an upgraded version of the Manufactured home (mobile homes/trailers) industry that it came from.   That was about 40 years ago.  In those early days and for about 20 years after modular homes were built with the same concept as manufactured homes but to a higher standard (different building code) The manufactures designed stock models and offered them to customers with the ability to change the fit and finish but really limiting design.  Pick this one or that one.

Advances in manufacturing changed all of that.  Today, we design your home for you and then have one of our manufacturing partners build that home for you. But we never changed how we marketed ourselves.  In this new custom design world, we still put up pictures of models, put silly names on them, the manufactures still printed catalogues and dealers still picked some they liked and put them on their lot for people to look at.  But that made the whole idea of “design what you want” confusing when we only showed some options or had some models.  Oh, and changes in the building code made pricing a whole different game.  Did you know that the exact same house that might be built a mile from my office will have a different price then one built 8 miles from my office.  Yes, Saratoga county has two different Ground snow load capacities which means one needs more structure then the same house built 8 miles to the south. Then add in climate zones, wind loads, snow loads, ground conditions etc and well, any price I might display for a house will not be the price for you, so, we stopped publishing price list. Then we stopped model centers, then we stopped stock plans and now it is all different. But, you can now have exactly the house you want, not one that is almost what you want and you will have to make it work.  See….Better
