Ranch Homes- I have no idea where this name comes from, but the simple rule is that all one story homes with no second floor living space is considered a ranch. Rectangular ranches have two base ideas, “end living” with your living room, dining space and kitchen on one end then a hallway that leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms and “center living” which puts the living space in the middle and bedrooms on both sides. If you do not like either of these designs look at “L Ranch” designs that allow for a different flow.
